Smart for them. They're always pushing the streaming, but most people with Prime just use it for shipping. Now I just need them to pick up Hannibal, which seems possible because they carry it on Prime.

Not really shocked by this. With all the success Netflix has had with original programming, Amazon needed a big acquisition to hope to keep pace (their service is already viewed by many as just a nice perk to Prime shipping). I’m kind of looking forward to seeing what it’s called, there’s no way the BBC is going to allow it to be Top Gear but i’m sure it will be some cheeky pun on it...

Also, I'm really excited to see Amazon is releasing The Man in the High Castle in a series. The premise was interesting and it the pilot showed a lot of promise.

I have Prime. I cancelled Netflix years ago after the separation of the DVD and streaming services and the prices were jacked up.

I bet it’s purely down to money. Clarkson was especially adept with the financial side of Top Gear extracting previously un-heard of sums of money for a BBC show.
